The Tully's Kennels Story
The Tully family has been involved in the dog industry since 1962. Tully’s Kennel founders, Allen and Betsey Tully, started with breeding Poodles and Dachshunds, and then Scotties, Borzois, Salukis and Afghan Hounds. They were active in showing all of these breeds, as well as being consistent participants and leaders in the Nebraska and Council Bluffs Kennel clubs during the late 60s, 70s and 80s. Our Afghans were sold all over the globe as beautiful beloved pets and for the show world. Many of them were the foundation dogs for people starting their own showing/breeding careers. Our most well known of all, Ch. Khayam’s Apollo was the Afghan Hound group winner at the 1973 Westminster Dog Show, as well as being one of the top producers of champion offspring. Allen and Betsey still live in Omaha with their two Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers.
Allen and Betsey have built six kennels at four different locations during their dog years. The “D” Street location was built in 1978 and is Allen’s most prideful kennel. All dogs have their own individual inside run with a doggie door to the outside. This allows your dog to be able to relieve itself when needed. Exercise programs are also available for an additional fee. There are caretakers living on the property at all times so the animals are never left alone. The kennel is open every day for pick-up and drop-off with the exception of a few major holidays. Duly noted, remodel plans are underway and will provide not only a brand new boarding facility, but dog daycare too.
Pet Cremation and Burial
We understand it is difficult to know what to do when your pet passes away, we all want to know where our pets end up. Allen realized this void with our own dogs in the late 60s. We offer pet cremation where each pet is cremated like our own. You will receive your pet’s remains in a complimentary urn within 48 hours.
Our cemetery is located in the country just south of Papillion. These services have been a comfort for many.
The most enjoyable part of our business is the puppies. Everyone who visits the puppy room leaves with a smile. We know owning a puppy is time consuming - and for some - a lifestyle change. 10 days is a great amount of time to try it on for size. The 10-day money-back trial period is a comfort to our customers and to us; this helps to assure nobody feels “stuck” with a pup that does not fit in. Know that when a puppy is returned, it thinks it is coming “home.” All of our puppies eventually find the right family.
The pups are at least eight (8) weeks of age and are up to date on all necessary puppy vaccinations and wormings. Each puppy comes with limited free vet care that is donated by specified veterinarians in the Omaha, Council Bluffs, Lincoln and Columbus areas. The puppies are from local breeders who are licensed and inspected.
All of our pups are sold with the hope that they are a good representative of their breed and more importantly, are healthy and have great temperaments. We want them to fulfill your expectations, make loving pets and bring pleasure to your lives.
